SUMMARY:May - Geauga Economic Leadership (G.E.L)
DESCRIPTION:  \nEmily Nash: Disease and Death in 19th century Geauga County \nThe program focuses on pioneer/settler Emily Nash who traveled by wagon train to the Western Reserve (Geauga Co) in 1813. Traveling from Massachusetts to Troy\, Geauga County\, the Nash family were some of the first settlers in Ohio.  Emily Nash kept a lengthy journal where she described births\, deaths\, and historic events in Ohio and the nation.  Nash provides insight to early nineteenth century medical practices and diseases affecting Geauga County. As a layer-of-the-dead\, Nash had a unique role in describing disease and preparing bodies for burial. \n  \nCo-sponsored by Geauga Growth Partnership and Kent State University at Geauga. These events are an opportunity to bring business and industry leaders together with our community to network\, learn\, and collaborate. Each event is intended to foster a heightened awareness of business\, industry\, and public services present in Geauga County and to facilitate networking among the members of those sectors.
